About Fort Worth & Dallas

Description

Get set for plenty of excitement on this amazing twin centre holiday to the Lone Star State, you’ll enjoy stays at Fort Worth and Dallas, two of Texas’s most iconic cities.  Get ready to explore the amazing attractions these two great destinations have to offer on this fabulous Lone Star adventure!

Fort Worth

A convenient downtown location directly opposite the Water Gardens, friendly staff committed to great customer service and excellent value for money all combines to make the Fort Worth Sheraton Downtown Hotel the perfect choice for guests of all ages to explore the vibrant city of Fort Worth and the surrounding area.

Getting around Fort Worth’s downtown area is quick easy thanks to Molly the Trolley a vintage style trolley bus that provides free transportation throughout the downtown area. Stopping between a host of downtown hotels; landmarks, restaurants, shops and entertainment venues it’s a convenient downtown get around with a stop right outside the hotel.

Enjoy championship Rodeo displays with bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, longhorn cattle drives, gunslinger shows, stagecoaches and more at Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District.  Located in the heart of the town the Stockyard District celebrates Fort Worth’s contribution to the Old West as the last major stop for the iconic cowboy cattle drives before setting out on The Chisholm Trail.

Make sure you take the short stroll to Sundance Square, one of the liveliest hospitality and retail districts in the Southwest with a fantastic array of entertainment, retail and dining venues housed in a mixture of modern and historical buildings.  There’s fun for all the family at Sundance Square, enjoy live music and live shows, visit a museum or art gallery or just grab a casual coffee and watch the world go by – it’s a great place to spend some holiday time.

Dallas

The elegant Fairmont Hotel is conveniently set in the downtown Dallas Arts District and within walking distance of bustling shops, lively restaurants and exciting nightlife of the Historic West End District.

Elegant and well-appointed guest rooms and suites, modern amenities including a Junior Olympic sized pool, and a traditional Texas welcome from the hotel staff all combine to make the Fairmont Hotel the ideal base for your Dallas stopover.

Dealey Plaza, the site of John F Kennedy’s assassination on 22 November 1962 is less than a mile from the hotel providing a poignant window into the past events of that tragic day. See the site where the infamous shooting occurred; stand on the famous Grassy Knoll and visit the Sixth Floor Museum to discover much more about the lifetime, legacy and death of the 35th President of the United States of America. Self-guided audio tours are included in the admission fee and the exhibits, historic films, artefacts and exhibitions of the shooting and its subsequent events provide a fascinating insight into this infamous period of Dallas’s history.

For a great view out over the Dallas skyline head on up to the top of Reunion Tower, one of the city’s best known landmarks, its 561 feet tall and offers panoramic 360 degree views of the city from its revolving tower.

Pioneer Plaza is the city’s largest public park in the city paying homage to the original “Dallas Cowboys” where you’ll find amazing life sized sculptures of cowboys in the saddle horseback roping, longhorn cattle and trail drivers – the perfect place for some stunning selfie photographs!

Kids who grew up watching Jurassic Park (and adults too) will be enthralled by the permanent exhibits, state of the art video and computer animations, educational games and interactive kiosks at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

Guided tours are a great way to explore the city without getting lost. Segway tours and hop on hop off trolley routes stop at lots of the city’s most popular attractions while organised tours to places of special interest such as the Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium and the famous Ewing Ranch at Southfork are also easy to access – visit the ranch and maybe you’ll find out who really shot JR!
